Indonesia sets beef import quota

Indonesia has set a beef import quota of 80,000 tonnes (t) for 2013. The quota will be divided into 267,000 head of feeder cattle imports, equivalent to 48,000t of beef, and frozen imports of 32,000t.

Saudi bans Brazilian beef

Saudi Arabia is the latest Asian country to suspend beef imports from Brazilian. It is now also the biggest country to stop purchases after the South American country confirmed a case of atypical mad cow disease in 2010.
