The awards will be announced via an online broadcast on September 22.

The 2020 NutraIngredients-Asia awards are open for entries until June 22, and we want you to nominate who should be this year’s NutraChampion – and its free to submit your suggestions.

The NutraChampion award is dedicated to the celebration of our industries biggest champions and heroes and will be judged by our panel of independent experts.

Whether it is for driving new standards and policies, increasing public knowledge and interest in nutrition, or pushing for innovation and championing ingredients, our NutraChampion award will celebrate those who leave a lasting impact on nutrition and the nutrition industry.

Entries are by nomination only and should outline why each potential NutraChampion deserves this honour.

Our two previous winners of this prestigious award were:

Professor Christiani Jeyakumar Henry - the founding Director of the Clinical Nutrition Research Centre (CNRC), A*STAR, in Singapore. CNRC has been the catalyst that brought to Singapore numerous food companies and facilitated research collaboration with both MNCs and SMEs.

His research focus has been to provide evidence-based science for advancing the concept of ‘food the new medicine’. He has collaborated with over 50 industrial partners and published more than 350 peer reviewed papers and secured research funding more than S$100million.

He has played a fundamental role in providing scholarship, training and direction to both local and international food industries to tackle nutritional challenges in Asia.

Dr Inger Reidun F. Aukrust -, a leading expert in vitamin K and vice president of R&D chemistry at Kappa Bioscience. She received the award for scientific and commercial innovations in vitamin K2 MK-7, contributing to the development of the dietary supplements industry as a whole.

Vitamin K2 was virtually unknown a decade ago, with no measurable commercial presence. The NutraChampion award recognises cumulative career accomplishments in K2 MK-7 organic chemistry, quality standard description, analytical methods, regulation, and consumer and industry education.

Vitamin K2 is essential for bone and heart health, and most western diets are deficient. In 2009 Dr Aukrust and her partner achieved the first scalable synthesis of the MK-7 molecule.

This achievement set the foundations for the current K2 MK-7 market.

Nominate your 2020 NutraChampions here today.

The awards feature 14 categories, and the winners will be announced via an online broadcast on September 22.
