Watch: NZMP on the benefits of low lactose dairy for healthy ageing

NZMP has launched a low lactose dairy product, aimed at encouraging elderly to increase their dietary intake of protein, while addressing digestion difficulties at the same time.

The low lactose dairy was showcased at the Food Ingredients Asia show held in Thailand recently.

The lactose level in the new product was less than 0.5%.

Speaking to NutraIngredients-Asia, marketing communications manager of the medical nutrition team, Laura McPike, said the new option could alleviate digestion problems, while encouraging elderly to increase their dairy intake for their protein needs.

In the South East Asia region, the firm has identified Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam as the key markets for elderly nutrition, said Hamish Gowan, GM of South and East Asia.
