Qiagen has opened a site in the Philippines to provide ‘around the clock’ coverage for customers.

Qiagen Business Services (QBS) Manila will provide supply chain management, customer care and accounting as well as technical services and sales support to the molecular testing firm's global operations.

The Shared Service Center in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City complements the existing center in Wroclaw, Poland, which since opening in 2013, has grown to more than 350 employees.

It will support Qiagen businesses in the US and the APAC region and is expected to reach 200 staff over the next 18 months.

“Service quality, hospitality and international language proficiency ensure that our Shared Service Center will help us better serve our customers’ needs worldwide,” said Roland Sackers, Qiagen chief financial officer.

“We also take advantage of the geographic position: the combination with our Polish Shared Service Center allows us to provide services for the US and APAC regions, ensuring full coverage and business continuity across time zones and regions.”

Qiagen has more than 500,000 customers in Molecular Diagnostics (human healthcare), Applied Testing (forensics and food), Pharma (pharma and biotech companies) and Academia (life sciences research).

As of December 31, 2017, the firm employed 4,700 people in 35 locations.
