Nestlé to introduce Gold KitKat in Japan for $16 a bar

Nestlé has launched a one-finger KitKat made with edible gold leaves at its Chocolatory boutiques in Japan.

The company will sell 500 units from the end of December across its eight KitKat boutiques across Japan.

Kit Kat Chocolatory Sublime Gold is a one-finger Kit Kat Chocolatory Sublime Bitter bar coated with edible gold leaves.

Bars will retail for Yen 2,016 ($16) each, almost eight times the price of a Sublime Bitter bar.

Nestlé sells around 30 different varieties of KitKat in Japan, including Green Tea, Wasabi and Purple Potato SKUs.

The firm opened the world’s first KitKat “Chocolatory" store in Japan in January last year and has since added seven other locations.
