Asia and Europe come together to talk food safety

A seminar this week is hoping to build on outcomes from the Sanitary and Phyto Sanitary (SPS) week in China last year on food safety.

It will focus on recent scientific developments, food safety management policies among Asian and European partners, how food standards ensure an appropriate level of consumer protection, exchange of views on national supervision and management expertise and technical and scientific cooperation in the framework of the international standard setting bodies.

The Asia-Europe meeting SPS and Food Safety seminar will include a forum, panel discussion, training courses, exhibition of products and technologies, and field visit.

Representatives from authorities responsible for animal health, welfare and plant health and food safety, government agencies, universities and research institutes, ASEM stakeholders and business associations in food safety will be at the event.

Presenters include Koen Van Dyck, head of unit food, alert system and training, DG SANTE, Anut Visetrojana, director of the Division of Standard Control - Thailand and Liene Ansone, head of division Veterinary and Food Department Ministry of Agriculture Republic of Latvia. 

ASEM SPS and Food Safety Seminar will be held on November 11-12 in Brussels.
