Gulfood Manufacturing 2014 opens in Dubai

The inaugural Gulfood Manufacturing 2014 trade event takes place in Dubai this week, featuring more than 1,100 suppliers from 52 countries.

The event, which runs from November 9-11, was created to allow large multinational food producers to explore opportunities in the MEASA (Middle East, Africa, and South Asia) region.

It will also help regional food manufacturers by providing a ‘one-stop-shop’ for ingredients, processing machinery, packaging equipment and logistics, warehousing and cold chain solutions.

Gulfood Manufacturing was opened yesterday (Sunday 9) by Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development; in the presence of His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, director general, Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and CEO, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC); His Excellency Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, chairman, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and other UAE business leaders.

Gulfood Manufacturing also hosts the Food & Beverage Industrial Investment Summit; the Bakery Innovations Summit; and Food Factory of the Future (a showcase of food manufacturing technologies).

The Speciality Food Festival, SEAFEX, Sweets and Snacks Middle East, World of Perishables Dubai, and the Dubai International Food Safety Conference also run until Tuesday 11.
