The ingredient—the patented Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086 probiotic, which claims digestive and immune benefits—is now available in Japan, India, Taiwan and the Philippines. It can be found in more than 100 food, beverage and companion animal products around the world.
As a spore-former, it remains viable through most manufacturing processes, Ganeden says, with three years of shelf life and the low pH of stomach acid.
Its efficacy is backed by 19 published studies showing digestive and immune support, with an exceptional safety record with FDA GRAS status from the United States FDA. It can be applied into baked, boiled, frozen or squeezed products without changing the taste or texture profile of a product.
“Japan, Taiwan, Philippines and India are significant markets within Asia, where consumers are already familiar with the benefits of probiotics”, said Ganeden’s Stephen Quinn.
“The regulatory approvals provide a great deal of opportunity for probiotic innovation within these thriving functional food and beverage markets.”
