Novasep to open new process engineering subsidiary in India
Novasep will expand its presence in India with the opening of a process engineering services division within its biotech business unit.
The move means that the company, which supplies manufacturing solutions to the life sciences industry, will now be able to work more closely with local companies that deal with functional and commodity food and feed ingredients, milk derivatives and bio-based chemicals.
Michel Cotillon, who was formerly head of R&D for Novasep’s Industrial Biotech business, and then its area sales manager for France and Benelux, has been promoted to head the subsidiary as general manager.
Novasep’s expansion to Bangalore, India, comes at a time when India’s food and feed ingredients industries are experiencing fast growth, and follows the company’s expansion of its team in China in 2012.
“Novasep’s set-up in India is another key milestone in our strategy to expand our geographical presence,” said Michel Spagnol, the company’s chief executive. “After our success in China, Novasep India is well placed to support our growth in future years.”
Novasep’s Indian subsidiary will provide local support to sugar mill operators to integrate its optimised processes across a number of sugar-related practices.
For the dairy industry, the company will provide local expertise in developing cost-effective processes that guarantee the performance of whey demineralisation, lactose purification, and the production of crystalline lactose.
Novasep will continue to sell biopharma chromatography equipment and associated processes in India.
“India is one of the most dynamic areas where Novasep’s expertise can meet manufacturer expectations for state-of-the-art processes,” said Nadège Laborde, president of the Industrial Biotech business unit.
