Nutraceutix's probiotic delivery technology now patented in more than 30 countries

Nutraceutix, based in Redmond, WA, has added to the list of patents for its probiotic delivery system with patents in the 24 countries in the European Patent Convention.  This means the technology, called “Delivery System for a Biological Component” in the patent application and branded as BIO-tract, is now patented in more than 30 countries.

The company already holds patents in Australia, Canada, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation and the United States. Additional patents in the U.S. and Canada are pending, according to the company.

The European Patent Convention includes: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, The Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

The BIO-tract is a tablet technology that protects microorganisms during their journey through the highly acidic environment of the stomach and slowly releases them in the intestines. The system also employs the company’s patented LiveBac processing to extend probiotic shelf life far beyond other supplemental forms, even at room temperature.
